Tim McPherson

Tim McPherson joined the Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in 2015 as a Chief Scientist. He came to PNNL to lead efforts on the development and application of technologies to promote and enable the resilience of infrastructure systems and the communities that rely on them. He has worked in this field for over 20 years and has led projects/programs that supporting the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Defense. His experience includes leading teams that develop models, analytic techniques, and analytic processes to study the impacts of all-hazards on interacting complex systems. This includes modeling network infrastructure systems, natural systems, and socio-economic systems and their interdependencies. Recent experience has focused on threat/vulnerability evaluation, consequence assessment and mitigation analysis. Considerable effort has focused on water infrastructure, transportation systems, dams and healthcare and public health systems.
