Alexandra Yestrumskas

Alexandra Yestrumskas is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Investment Security at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

From 2022 to 2023 she served as Deputy Legal Advisor to the National Security Council at the White House. She previously served as Deputy Assistant General Counsel for International Affairs and Lead Counsel for the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) at Treasury. Prior to entering government service, Alex practiced at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in the firm’s General Practice group and was a Legal Advisor at the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Geneva, Switzerland.

Before law school, Alex worked in economic consulting at Cornerstone Research and for the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative in Lesotho and Nigeria. Alex holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a M.S. in Management Science & Engineering and a B.A., with honors, in Economics from Stanford University.

By fostering collaboration among government, operators, and communities, we can enhance the protection of critical infrastructure. However, barriers to information sharing and cooperation persist, partly due to trust. To overcome these challenges, we must build trust and create a supportive environment that encourages open communication and knowledge exchange.
