- Electric Grid Cybersecurity Alliance
John Miri launched the Electric Grid Cybersecurity Alliance (EGCA) after serving as Chief Administrative Officer at LCRA, a $1.1 billion public electric and water utility. Miri led the successful turnaround of 22 divisions at LCRA and pioneered the utility’s approach to cybersecurity. He created LCRA’s first CISO role, grew the cybersecurity department 28-fold, successfully repelled billions of cyber-attacks, implemented three production AI systems, and earned recognition from NIST as a global success story – all without raising electric rates. In the words of EGCA Fellow Bob Greenberg, Miri’s leadership took the utility’s cybersecurity “from worst to first.” In addition to his role with the EGCA, Miri leads Bedrock Strategy Group, a trusted consultancy for cybersecurity and digital transformation. Miri co-authored Texas’s first statewide cybersecurity strategic plan and established the state’s first integrated Network and Security Operations Center. Miri graduated from Harvard College with an honors degree in Physics and is primary inventor on U.S. patent number 7,571,138.

Power & Energy (Grid Resiliency) Sector Symposium
The energy sector has become the most critical of sectors. Without power, driven by oil, gas and renewable energies, all other CI stops. Recent cyber attacks on the energy sector, as well as natural hazards, from hurricanes in the Gulf to fires in California, gives much room for thought on how we best protect our most vital assets, including IT/OT and SCADA systems. How can we mitigate the impact of an attack or outage on the wider community and society, and build greater grid resilience?
